NUR 4001 - Preparing for NCLEX Licensure Success2 lecture hours 0 lab hours 2 credits Course Description This course allows students to demonstrate clinical judgment while integrating prior content and use of test taking strategies. Students will reflect on their previous successes and areas for growth by developing a focused and individualized remediation plan to promote their licensure success as they approach graduation. Emphasis is placed on examining regulatory bodies that govern nursing practice and preparation for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. Prereq: NUR 4020 or NUR 4015 (quarter system prereq: NU 4700 or NU 4702) Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate competency of recognizing cues regarding a clinical situation, generating and weighing hypotheses, taking action, and evaluating outcomes for the purpose of arriving at a satisfactory clinical outcome (Clinical Judgment)
- Complete a standardized assessment that predicts one’s probability of passing NCLEX-RN licensure exam and interpret results (Clinical Judgment)
- Formulate a targeted, specific, individualized comprehensive action plan to promote success on the NCLEX-RN licensure exam through self-critique of academic achievement, clinical experiences, faculty feedback, and scores on standardized assessments (Professional Role)
- Reinforce techniques that strengthen test-taking strategies and promote psychological readiness for NCLEX-RN examination (Professional Role)
- Demonstrate a pattern of personal responsibility, professionalism, and accountability for life-long learning (Professional Role)
- Describe legal aspects and regulatory bodies that govern professional nursing licensure (Professional Role)
