Overview

The Accounting Program coupled with MSOE’s strong technical and analytic style results in work ready students who can get the job done. The program enables graduates to analyze complex accounting problems and apply accounting, tax, auditing and research and other relevant discipline to identify solutions. Accounting students learn to design, prepare and evaluate financial information using technology. The curriculum reflects strong analytics, encourages deep critical thinking, exploration of data analytics and the cutting-edge use of artificial intelligence to advance the accounting field. Students will learn to communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts and collaborate effectively across disciplines. 

Program Outcomes

Graduates with a B.S. in Accounting will be able to:

  1. Strategically analyze, evaluate, and solve business problems using technology and an understanding of the social context
  2. Prepare and deliver, concise, persuasive stakeholder-centered information in a professional manner
  3. Develop leaders of character who promote effectiveness in working with and leading diverse teams
  4. Exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset
  5. Analyze and evaluate disclosures in annual 10k’s

With some exceptions, including BUS 2222, eligible courses  must be taught out of the Humanities, Social Science, and Communication, Mathematics, or Physics and Chemistry Departments.
