BI 2020 - Cellular Microbiology3 lecture hours 3 lab hours 4 credits This course introduces students to the basics of cellular microbiology and the increasing importance and applications of microorganisms in engineering. Diversity of the microbial world, controls of microbial growth and metabolism, microbial molecular biology, ecology, and engineered environmental systems are discussed. Feasibility of bio-remediation strategies and appropriate engineering controls to prevent undesired microbial infestation and food and industrial microbiology are also discussed and practiced. Lab activities provide hands on experience to emphasize lecture content. (prereq: BI 102 , CH 223 )
