CAE 3511 - Analysis of Structures2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course presents methods of structural analysis for determinate and indeterminate structures. Topics include truss and beam analysis, virtual work method for deflections, flexibility methods, stiffness methods, and computerized structural analysis. Prereq: CAE 3501 (quarter system prereq: AE 3201) Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze statically determinate structures with complex loadings and geometry
- Analyze statically indeterminate structures using classical methods
- Generate accurate solutions for reactions, member internal forces and deflections for trusses, beams, and frames
- Compare and contrast results from computer software and hand calculations
