CAE 1851 - Introduction to CAECM Graphics1 lecture hours 2 lab hours 2 credits Course Description This course introduces the first-year student to graphics techniques and software used in the construction industry, focusing on graphical communication techniques and standards. Students will be introduced to hand sketching, AutoCAD, and Revit. Skills learned in this course will be utilized in the corequisite 1st Year Design course. Prereq: None Coreq: CAE 1811 Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the fundamental principles needed to create freehand and hard line drawings
- Demonstrate the use of AutoCAD and REVIT software

- Hand sketching: orthographic projection, elevation drawing, plans, sections one- and two-point perspective
- Autodesk AutoCAD software: basics of AutoCAD, drawing architectural objects and floor plans, exterior elevations, sections, site plans, schedules, sheet setup, line weights, and plotting
- Autodesk Revit software: floor plans, walls, doors and windows, vertical circulation, roof and skylights, floor systems, ceilings, elevations, interior design and schedules, sections, site, rendering, and construction document set
