Technical Communication Minor V 6.0

A student enrolled in a degree program at MSOE may also earn a Minor in Technical Communication. The design of the course of study is to produce a graduate skilled in the specific discipline and evidencing competence in the art of communication. Such a graduate would be attractive to business, industry or government since he/she would possess two highly important talents.

The Minor in Technical Communication requires a minimum of 27 quarter credits in English, TC or eligible HU/SS courses.

Required courses

GS 1001 - Freshman Studies I 4 credits
GS 1002 - Freshman Studies II 4 credits
GS 1003 - Freshman Studies III 4 credits

Or, for University Scholars:

GS 1010H - Honors Seminar I 4 credits
GS 1020H - Honors Seminar II 4 credits
GS 1030H - Honors Seminar III 4 credits

Four TC or UX Courses from the Following:

TC 151 - Theory of Human Communication 3 credits
TC 321 - Visual Design Techniques 4 credits
TC 3320 - User Documentation 3 credits
TC 334 - Project Communications 3 credits (former EN 432 - Business Communication )
TC 4320 - Publishing Across Media 3 credits
TC 342 - Professional Presentation Techniques 3 credits or EN 441 - Professional Presentation Techniques (for AECM students only)
TC 452 - Interpersonal Communication 3 credits
TC 4510 - Mass Media, Culture, and Society 3 credits
TC 498 - Technical Communication Practicum 3 credits
UX 172 - Desktop Publishing and UX Tools 3 credits (former TC 172 - Desktop Publishing )
UX 242 - Collaborative Design 3 credits
