NU 4870 - Transition to Professional Nursing Practice I

This course is first in a two course series which includes an in-depth focus on the requirements the nursing student needs to meet to transition into the role of professional nurse following graduation. Emphasis is placed on examining regulatory bodies that govern nursing practice such as National Council State Board of Nursing and State Law; review of a student-created professional portfolio; self-assessment inclusive of an RN predictor exam and preparation for taking the NCLEX-RN licensure exam; as well as discussion of formal and informal educational opportunities available after graduation, such as continuing education credit and graduate education. (prereq: senior clinical placement)
