NU 260 - Nutrition2 lecture hours 0 lab hours 2 credits This course introduces nutritional concepts as they relate to human health and fitness. The overall goal of the course is to provide nurses and other health care workers with the knowledge they need to assess nutritional status, and to use knowledge of nutrition’s role in health and growth development, to improve well-being. Topics include a basic introduction to nutrition covering carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Further topics include nutritional standards and guidelines, nutrition across the lifespan, metabolism, energy balance, diet, and health.
