HON 2051 - Honors Seminar I2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits
Course Description
The first course in the honors seminar sequence will introduce students to the program fundamentals through various topics. Embracing intellectual curiosity, we explore and identify connections between complex problems - both past and present - to implement creative interventions that address social challenges and support “The Power of Communities.” Students will begin work on a two-year experiential learning project that will connect them to organizations involved with social justice work in the greater Milwaukee community.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply historical reasoning to understand the origins of present-day issues
- Examine possible ideological, esthetic, political, social connections, and reflect on how our knowledge of the past enriches our awareness of the present
- Engage with individual/organizations/movements that sought to challenge residential segregation in cities like Milwaukee
