TCM 3030 - e-Learning Development3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course introduces students to the design and development of asynchronous e-learning courses. Students will first learn foundational concepts in instructional design and instructional methods. They will then complete the design and development of a 20-minute instructional e-learning module on a topic of their choice. Time is devoted to the ADDIE model, which covers all steps from conducting the initial needs assessment through delivery and evaluation of the module. Prereq: COM 2001 and junior standing or instructor approval (quarter system prereq: GS 1002 or GS 1020H or GS 1002E) Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs)
- Complete a needs assessment report
- Write clear, student-focused learning objectives
- Develop microcontent (clear, concise, focused, and manageable)
- Create meaningful storyboards that clearly communicate design decisions
- Use gamification and other interactive strategies to engage learners
- Create quizzes and knowledge checks that map back to the learning objectives and course content
- Create a design document
- Design a Level 1 assessment
