UXD 3060 - Professional Portfolio3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description Professional portfolios show your professional digital identity and are critical for entry into your career. Professional portfolios typically provide multiple samples of work presented in a case study format, display technical and professional skillsets, and demonstrate mastery of core competencies related to your field. In this class you will create a digital portfolio, which is a culmination of your course work that showcases your accomplishments achieved throughout your academic career. Additionally, you will explore what it means to be a professional by building your brand, personal narrative, and then apply it to your resume, cover letter, elevator pitch, LinkedIn profile, and work samples. This hands-on class will include a mixture of lecture (including guest experts), discussions, presentations, role playing, and worktime. UX-major portfolios will also be shared and presented to the UX Program Director, UX faculty, and UX Industrial Advisory Committee (IAC) for review and assessment. Prereq: UXD 1001 , junior standing (quarter system prereq: UX 1400 or UX 1400H) Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate personal competencies, accomplishments, and career readiness in your field
- Reflect on your personal brand and narrative including strengths, weaknesses, and technical skillset
- Define career path based on academic background and career goals
- Prepare for job search and interviews and know how to present self as professional
- Create case studies of samples of work using a web-based portfolio tool
