BUS 2730 - Business Programming I

Course Description
This course introduces the student to fundamental concepts of application program development through the construction of computer programs that address typical business needs using the Python programming language. The elements of data processing and program design and development are learned through the hands-on process of building object-oriented software solutions to common business problems.

Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Develop a process for creating software solutions to typical business problems using the Python programming language
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze, design, implement, and test programs written to address typical business problems
  • Understand the syntax and semantics of the Python programming language to craft solutions that can be reduced to programs
  • Develop the ability to design an algorithm, protocol, or process using logic structures, such as iteration, decision branching, nesting of logic, functions, flow of control, etc.
  • Understand the various types of data structures used in Python, such as lists, tuples, dictionaries, sets, objects, classes, methods, and other constructs
