BIE 4600 - Bio Process Control

2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits
Course Description
The course provides training on industrial bio process control. It brings together the knowledge acquired in other chemical and biomolecular engineering courses and applies it to control bioprocesses. Process control hardware and troubleshooting, dynamic modeling, controller tuning, and control of processes is covered in detail. P, PI, and PID controllers are analyzed and advanced control strategies are discussed. Tuning of PID controllers is performed and simulated.  (prereq: BIE 3400 ) (quarter system prereq: EB 3570)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Identify common process instrumentation and hardware
