Overview

The MSOE Honors Program is MSOE’s honors curriculum. The benefits of participating in the program include having classes with engaged students, greater opportunities to pursue individual interests, integration of diverse topics, and more in-depth preparation for graduate school. Also, honors students will participate in settings that will hone their leadership skills through project work, professional presentations, and interaction with regional leaders in various fields. The MSOE Honors Program encourages independent, collaborative, and cooperative learning. The selective program is currently open only to students who meet the enrollment criteria. Program Outcomes:

Upon graduation, students enrolled in the MSOE Honors Program will be able to:

  • Apply historical reasoning to understand the origins of present-day issues, examine possible ideological, aesthetic, political, social connections, and reflect on how our knowledge of the past enriches our awareness of the present
  • Relate various forms of knowledge-local and foreign; scholarly and popular-that contribute to a broad understanding of past and contemporary world order
  • Cultivate and foster intercultural awareness and learning, develop critical and reflective perspectives on difference
  • Show awareness of the origins and nature of cultural, economic, and power differences among different regions of the world
  • Engage with organizations involved with social justice work
