UX 2024 - Information Architecture3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This class introduces the core components of Information Architecture (IA). Information architecture focuses on the organization of a website or application in order to optimize the findability and searchability of digital assets. Good IA is an essential component of a good user experience because it brings together components of both research and design. IA research and design methods will be taught using both analog and digital tools. Additionally, strategies and approaches will be taught through a mixture of lecture, discussion, and hands-on research. (prereq: GS 1002 and sophomore standing) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the discipline of Information Architecture and its importance in the digital world
- Know how people look for and categorize information
- Understand and know how to plan, communicate, and classify digital assets (i.e., content)
- Analyze and document information architectures
- Research and design an information architecture using digital and analog tools
