SS 473H - Cultural Anthropology3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description The purpose of this course is to assist the student in becoming a better world citizen through cultural understanding. By uncovering the sources, forces, and factors that form societies, the student will develop a deeper appreciation for, and a clearer understanding of, the rich cultural diversity of our world. The course will analyze the relationship between place/land and the individuals living in that area. (prereq: none) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Know more about being human
- Understand that cultural differences may have roots in physical and social environments
- Be more tolerant and understanding of other peoples and their ways
- Synthesize and analyze the power of place through the lens of cultural anthropology
