MUS 1100 - University Orchestra (for credit)1 lecture hours 0 lab hours 1 credits Course Description This course offers students an exciting environment in which they develop talents in the performance and appreciation of music. The course will provide students with organized rehearsal and performance opportunities to build their passion for music. A diverse array of repertoire and concert programs will help students build strong foundations in orchestral performance. Note: Students wishing to participate without credit should register for MUS 0100. (prereq: audition or meeting with ensemble director) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Display strong foundations in performance of string/orchestral literature
- Demonstrate their talents and skills in ensemble playing in a variety of public venues
- Demonstrate skills and understanding of concepts of music performance in a large and small ensemble such as: sound, rhythm, style, articulation, blend, character, and other aspects of orchestral performance
