EGR 4801 - AI for Emerging Applications Practicum

Course Description
This course provides a hands-on experience for students from any major who are interested in applying artificial intelligence and human-centered design concepts to a real-world project. To receive credit, students must document at least 120 hours of supervised work. Student performance is evaluated, and the grade is assigned by the course coordinator based on laboratory notebook content and the internship mentor’s input. Students interested in registering for this course should contact the AI for Emerging Applications certificate coordinator to discuss project availability. (prereq: written consent from the AI for Emerging Applications certificate coordinator and department chair; sophomore standing)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Execute and document work in a real-world project related to an artificial intelligence application
  • Articulate the applicability of human-centered design in a real-world project related to artificial intelligence
