BUS 4801 - Business Internship0 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description The course gives business majors and minors the opportunity to apply classroom theory and projects to real-life workplace settings, explore career options, and develop the skills to launch their career. Students submit reflection reports, manager update reports, and lessons learned throughout the term. Students can find their internship opportunities through MSOE Career Connections Center, Business faculty, or through personal networking. The expectation is that the student will commit to 9 hours a week of working at their professional internship. May only be taken once for credit. (prereq: none) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Supplement their academic experience with professional experience prior to graduation
- Expand their professional skills
- Synthesize and transfer learning across new contexts to address complex problems
- Work constructively with others toward a common goal
- Apply sound principles of critical or analytical reasoning and evaluation of evidence
- Practice open-minded intellectual inquiry, creative exploration, and engagement with different perspectives
