BUS 3580 - Intermediate Accounting I2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course is designed to provide the students with an in-depth exposure to the United States and international accounting environment and all the elements of the theoretical frameworks that comprise Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards. The students will learn to apply accounting theory to revenue and expense and the related balance sheet accounts. (prereq: BUS 3560 and BUS 2530 ) (quarter system prereq: BA 2530 and BA 2550) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Construct and analyze financial statements for a complex organization focusing on the income statement, liabilities and equity, and statement of cash flows
- Describe, prepare, and analyze complex accounting transactions
- Assess financial reporting environment and theory
- Compare requirements under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for all elements of the financial statements under study
