BUS 2010 - Business Analysis and Data Storytelling3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description Did you know that 37% of all statistics are useless? Once upon a time there was a business that had an entire warehouse of data and had no idea how to use it to improve their business. This course introduces students to the science and art of business analysis and data storytelling. Students will work with different types of data and various sources of data to build their analytic skills using the typical tools used in industry and create narratives to tell the story of how the business is performing. (prereq: none) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Compare different types of data used in business analysis across business functions
- Perform basic data preparation and business analysis
- Utilize business analysis techniques to drive data-driven decision-making to improve business performance
- Assess ethical issues of managing business data
- Develop business performance narratives based on data analysis
- Utilize technology to improve communication of data analysis
