BUS 3600 - Advanced Financial Analysis

Course Description
This course will provide theory and the practical application of a variety of advanced investment and financial analysis related topics, including advanced financial statement analysis, quantitative financial analytical techniques, advanced portfolio management theory, analysis of multinational corporations, valuation for acquisitions and takeovers, financial analytics for stock picking and trading, and the analysis of options. (prereq: BUS 2530  and BUS 3593 ) (quarter system prereq: BA 2503 and BA 3593)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Describe and perform the approaches to advanced financial statement analysis
  • Perform quantitative financial analysis related to investments and valuing assets
  • Identify analytical difficulties related to foreign operations
  • Explain specific issues related to valuing takeovers
  • Examine approaches to analyzing company data for stock picking and trading activity
  • Appraise financial modeling and pricing techniques for valuing and trading options
