BIE 4020 - Senior Seminar1 lecture hours 0 lab hours 1 credits Course Description This course is the second sequence of the two CBE seminar courses. This course will cover various contemporary topics relevant to chemical and biomolecular engineering, highlighted with presentations by external guest speakers (either from industry or academia) and by student team presentations to CBE sophomores. Students will learn to listen, critique, and ask questions during the presentations. In particular, the student team presentations are designed to help CBE students respect others and collectively work in a team setting on a specific contemporary topic of their own interest and appreciate the power of teamwork. (prereq: BIE 2010 ) (quarter system prereq: EB 2100 and EB 3100) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Learn about contemporary topics in chemical and biomolecular engineering
- Develop professional communication skills by asking critical and logical questions about the materials presented by speakers
- Develop professional presentation skills
- Learn about various post-graduate career options with a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Prerequisites by Topic Course Topics
- Presentations by invited speakers (topics will vary each year)
- CBE student presentations to CBE sophomores
- Course learning assessment survey and questionnaire (will be done in groups)
