BIE 1000 - Introduction to Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This foundational course will introduce the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) program at MSOE, its curriculum, courses, facilities, professional societies, and their student chapters at MSOE. Students are introduced to the subdisciplines of CBE, and different career options are presented. Basic computer software and scientific units are covered. (prereq: none) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe what chemical and biomolecular engineers do
- Identify and report chemical and biomolecular engineering terminology
- Discuss applications of chemical and biomolecular engineering
- Perform scientific units conversions.
- Apply common features of Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel
- Practice project-based participation and learning
