Course Description
What does it really mean to “run” a company? This course introduces students to how work is completed within companies. You will learn the fundamentals of managing the entirety of business processes from supplier to customer. Emphasis is on managerial processes for effective operations in both goods-producing and service-rendering organizations. (prereq: none)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the workflow for both goods-producing and service-rendering organizations including operation management strategies
- Summarize basic financial tools related to operations management and investment
- Assess facility and capacity planning for an organization including risk assessment, customer flow, and inventory management
- Complete a process engineering analysis for use in quality improvement and assurance
- Determine appropriate tools and processes used in scheduling materials, people, and processes to maximize effectiveness and minimize operational delays
