BUS 3820 - Planning, Scheduling, and Control

Course Description
Many businesses, including those in manufacturing, retail, and logistics, rely on planning systems for production control. This course provides a comprehensive review of the material planning and scheduling and inventory control tools incorporated within the business and service industries. (prereq: none)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Analyze operational systems and process types
  • Identify and analyze inventory control systems
  • Explain the various types of scheduling approaches and how to prioritize customer orders amid changing stakeholder requirements
  • Evaluate various capacity and location planning approaches to meet system parameters such as efficiency, utilization, and on-time delivery
  • Develop operational layouts of shop floors, service areas, warehouses and other common business spaces for maximized efficiency
