BUS 4900 - Forecasting and Strategy

Course Description
Have you ever wondered how the roadmap and plan for an organization is created?  This penultimate business core class has students use all previous business classes to create a sustainable and ethical business strategy for a simulated company.  The stakeholder needs, industry competition, departmental tactics, and cultural alignment are all assessed for a company. The class will be application highlighting case studies, tool use and assessment, and a business simulation to deepen understanding of these complex concepts.  (prereq: senior standing or advisor consent)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • Forecast the business needs to meet stakeholder demands within organizational constraints
  • Generate a business forecast using external and internal analysis tools, economic trends, and regulatory landscape insights
  • Create an ethical and sustainable business strategy with appropriate KPIs and metrics
  • Assess strategic effectiveness using reports and analytics
  • Communicate strategic decisions and tactics in a professional manner to the appropriate audience level
