BUS 4340 - Cultivating Your Entrepreneurial Mindset3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description Have you ever wondered why companies seek people with an “entrepreneurial mindset?” Do you have an entrepreneurial mindset? This course is designed as an introduction to the entrepreneurial mindset, and to the creative problem-solving tools and critical thinking skills necessary to successfully pursue innovation and entrepreneurial success. The skillset will be useful throughout a career working as part of a team in an organization or in an entrepreneurial venture, such as a start-up. Learning will take place through active participation in ‘mindset’ learning activities. We will study real entrepreneurial opportunities and challenges which allows the student to develop their own entrepreneurial mindset. (prereq: none) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain how innovation and entrepreneurship drive economic growth via startups and within established organizations
- Apply creativity and ideation techniques to identify and market opportunities
- Understand how diversity contributes to value-creation
- Collaborate with others’ entrepreneurial mindset to create value
- Create value using the technical, business, and creative skills
