CON 2071 - Construction Safety

Course Description
This course provides a working knowledge of OSHA standards as they relate to the construction industry. Safety requirements, public protection, insurance issues, and contract language responsibilities are some of the topics introduced. Students who attend all the classes and pass the final exam can earn an OSHA 30-hour safety certification. (prereq: CAE 1871 , CAE 1872 ) (quarter system prereq: CM 2200)
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  • List OSHA standards pertaining to common building construction operations
  • Identify project-level and enterprise-level safety management concerns
  • Discuss how safety risks affect the construction costs
  • Explain safety responsibilities on the site as they are spelled out in the contracts
  • Earn OSHA 30-hour safety certification
