UX 3011 - UX Research I3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description The course is an introduction to basic UX research focusing on the primary methods of conducting research, collecting data, analysis of this data, and reporting out the findings from the research conducted. Research is a core function of the field of User Experience (UX) to deeply understand users and their behaviors with products. Students will use both analog and digital tools to conduct research. This is a group-based class with a balance between lecture and hands-on learning. (prereq: GS 1002 or GS 1020H, and sophomore standing) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the basics of UX research methods and their importance in creating positive user experiences and business outcomes
- Understand how and when to use different UX research methods
- Recognize the importance of clearly defining the problem and audience for a research study
- Understand UX research process, specifically how to plan and facilitate usability research studies
- Analyze results and present the outcomes to product stakeholders
- Work effectively in research teams
- Plan, write, and analyze a survey
- Identify and navigate environmental factors surrounding UX research
- Advocate for the use of UX research in their organization
