ME 190 - Computer Applications in Engineering2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits Course Description The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the modern computer tools required for engineering practice and teach them how to apply these tools to solve practical engineering problems. Topics include problem formulation, model development, algorithm development, and the use of numerical methods and computer graphics in the solution of engineering problems. Laboratory exercises will involve the use of various numerical and graphical software packages. (prereq: MA 127 or equivalent) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply problem-solving skills to engineering problems
- Present formal solutions to engineering problems
- Apply modern computational tools to solve mechanical and industrial engineering problems
