CV 5263 - Retaining Structures and Slope Stability3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course includes a review of relevant soil mechanics properties and lateral earth pressure theory, analysis and design of various earth retention systems, and analysis of earth slopes for stability. (prereq: CV 3500 or equivalent) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand various soil mechanics properties and lateral earth pressure theories applicable to retaining structures and slope stability
- Analyze and design various earth retaining structures for internal and external stability
- Analyze the stability of slopes using various hand calculation and computer methods
