The University Scholars Honors Program is MSOE’s honors curriculum. The benefits of participating in the program include having classes with like-minded students, greater opportunities to pursue individual interests, integration of diverse topics and more in-depth preparation for graduate school. Also, University Scholar students will participate in settings that will hone their leadership skills through project work, professional presentations, and interaction with regional leaders in various fields. The University Scholars Honors Program encourages independent, collaborative, and cooperative learning. The selective program is currently open only to students who meet the enrollment criteria. Program Outcomes:

Upon graduation, students enrolled in the University Scholars Honors Program will be able to:

  • Apply the tenets of Servant-Leadership
  • Evaluate and solve problems through inter-disciplinary research
  • Synthesize and analyze the “power of place”

The University Scholars Honors Programs seeks to use the concept of “the power of place” to illuminate the human, physical, historical, economic, cultural, and technological factors - and the relationships between these factors - that affect people, the natural world, and the built environment. With an emphasis on experiential learning, “the power of place” curriculum stresses an inter-disciplinary approach to understanding what makes particular spaces healthy, equitable, and sustainable.

Term 6: GS 200H  

Students must also choose ONE honors elective during their sophomore year. Options for the 2020-2021 academic year may include:
