CM 7050 - Construction Data and Information Management3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description Comprehensive introduction to the principles and techniques of information systems and data communication within the construction industry; data transmissions and network-based technologies employed in the design, implementation, and management of construction communication networks; Building Information Modeling; advanced computer and information systems applied in the construction industry; mobile and cloud systems; imaging; independent projects; research. (prereq: graduate standing) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the increased importance of data and information management techniques in construction management practices and the basic concepts and theories concerning the use of information technology
- Apply the knowledge and skills to critically evaluate alternative approaches for using information technology for construction management
- Use hands-on experience in the use of a well-known and widely used information technologies
