BA 4510 - Business Tax Planning3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description The focus of this course is basic tax issues for taxpayers including individuals and businesses. The topics include basic income tax computation, income definition, property transactions, taxes and investment and financing decisions, etc. The purpose is to provide a basic understanding of the role of taxes in decision making. (prereq: BA 2505 ) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and critically evaluate issues as they relate to taxation
- Identify the key elements of the US tax code for individuals and businesses
- Prepare individual and proprietor income tax returns
- Describe the statutory and regulatory aspects of taxation as they relate to business and individual tax decisions
