AE 6210 - Applied Finite Elements3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course presents the application of the finite element method to building analysis. Topics include element stiffness matrices for beam, plate, shell and continuum elements; solution of equations; material models for steel and concrete; boundary conditions; and applied loading. (prereq: AE 5210 or CV 5210 ) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze structures using one dimensional finite elements
- Analyze structures using approximations of two dimensional finite elements
- Analyze diverse structures using finite element software
