Overview
The data science minor builds competency in programming, statistics, machine learning, data analysis, and high-performance computing in a way that strengthens, rather than replaces, a student’s primary disciplinary training. The focus is on developing analytical literacy and practical skills that help students understand how data scientists frame problems and evaluate evidence. Students completing the minor are equipped to contribute meaningfully to data-driven projects within their own domain and to engage confidently with data science professionals in industry. Students pursuing a computer science major and students pursuing the AI path of the biomedical engineering major are not eligible to complete a data science minor. For additional information, see the minors policy.
