Program Description
Committed to designing for people, User Experience (UX) professionals create user-friendly products and services that make the world better for all.
Our curriculum empowers students to embrace the power of inclusive, human-centered design to create innovative design solutions to complex problems.
Our Gene Carter Usability Lab provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with community partners, research, design, and prototype user-friendly interfaces, products, and services.
Educational Objectives
The program aims to produce graduates who will:
- Use their education to become productive and contributing professionals in their chosen field.
- Demonstrate initiative and leadership in their professional activities.
- Demonstrate commitment to continued professional development.
- Understand the impact of their professional activities on society.
Student Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the program, students should be able to:
- Identify and employ inclusive, human-centered design and other appropriate methodologies to create innovative products and services
- Explain and effectively apply visual, user interface, voice, and data visualization design principles
- Analyze user needs to synthesize data and conduct user research
- Demonstrate proficiency in core front-end and contemporary technologies
- Exercise professional integrity by evaluating and applying ethical standards of UX and contemporary technology
- Navigate team dynamics and collaborate effectively
- Exhibit proficiency in oral, written, interpersonal, and visual communication
- Select and use appropriate professional software and tools

Notes:
19 credits of major electives are required. Major electives can be any college level course relevant to the degree. Major electives must be approved by the PD.
215 credits of HU/SS are required. Of them, six credits must be taken in HU and six credits in SS.
3Students must have a minimum of four credits of college-level mathematics, inclusive of a statistics course. Additionally, students must have a minimum of four credits of college-level science courses, with an associated lab. The sum total of the college-level courses in mathematics and science courses must meet the minimum requirement of 16 credits.
4Three additional credits in any one of the three categories (Mathematics and Science, Professional Preparedness, and Humanities & Social Science).
