German Study-abroad Program
Students in the industrial engineering program at MSOE have the opportunity to study abroad through an agreement between MSOE and the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences in Lübeck, Germany.
Due to the global nature of business today, the graduate who has traveled internationally, speaks a foreign language or has an understanding of the cultures and traditions of other nations will have a marked advantage.
The MSOE German Study-abroad Program for industrial engineering students enables them to study for one semester at a German university where the focus is in the area of applied engineering and business, while at the same time gaining firsthand experience by being immersed in German culture.
Industrial engineering students who enroll in the German Study-abroad Program will study for one semester at the Lübeck University of Applied Sciences during their sophomore, junior, or senior year (participating seniors must be graduating in November). The semester runs from March through mid-July. Students live in on- or off-campus housing arranged by the university.
Industrial engineering students wishing to participate in the study-abroad program at Lübeck University of Applied Sciences in their junior or senior year must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher at the end of the Winter Quarter of their sophomore year, and be in good academic standing at the end of Winter and Spring Quarters of their sophomore year. Industrial engineering students wishing to participate in their sophomore year must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher at the end of the Winter Quarter of their freshman year, and be in good academic standing at the end of Winter and Spring Quarters of their freshman year. A commitment to participate must be made one year in advance.
Key features of the program for MSOE students:
- All instruction is in English. Students do NOT need to speak German but will take a German II class as part of their coursework.
- Students can graduate on schedule, if they stay on track in the IE curriculum.
