MG 726 - Advanced Managerial Costing3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course considers the perspective of financial controls in industry from the standpoint of conventional accounting. This is placed in the current backdrop of organizational change. The agenda will consist of lectures, guest speakers, field trips and student project teamwork. Background material covers a broad spectrum of economic, industrial and social factors that are involved in technical change. Current operating controls used in industry and how they compare with long-term perspective are presented. On the long-term, the process deals with strategic planning, capital budgeting, inflation accounting and productivity. The course reviews the current trends that are talking place in financial reporting, such as activity-based accounting and other tools.
