MT 3901 - Computer Tools2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits Course Description The purposes of this course are to familiarize students with the modern computer tools required for engineering practice and to teach them how to apply these tools to solve practical engineerng problems. Topics include loops, logical branching, functions, plotting, root finding, matrix operations, and numerical methods. Laboratory exercises will involve the use of various computational software packages in the solution of engineering problems. (prereq:MA 127 or equivalent) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: • formulate and solve math, science, and engineering technology problems using Matlab
• have written structured computer programs to solve engineering problems using Matlab
• to use computer tools (Matlab and Excel) to plot graphs, find the roots of equations, and perform matrix operations
