MS 4951 - German Practicum9 lecture hours 0 lab hours 9 credits Course Description This course is required at the end of the formal studies in the exchange program with Fachhochschule Lubeck, Lubeck, Germany. The practicum and its oral defense is the culmination of the degree work, when students must complete an extensive project/internship that entails a mixture of theory and application. The intent is for students to create an interesting and challenging project that can provide high value for an organization, where the outcome is a thesis and implementation of recommendations. Projects are typically at firms with international operations. (coreq: MS 4953 and consent of instructor.) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to: • Identify the major and minor elements of an applied project created by a business organization
• Provide a critical analysis of the defined problem based on research and the limitations imposed by the sponsoring organization
• Make an assessment of possible solutions with appropriate models under the guidance of a faculty advisor and company supervisor
• Construct a thesis with appropriate documentation of each step in the analysis and justification for selected solution(s) Prerequisites by Topic • None Course Topics • Review of thesis writing guidelines
