Course Description
This course is intended to provide the student with an overview of the mechanical engineering profession. Lecture topics include an overview of the engineering profession, career paths within mechanical engineering, and the relationship of the educational curriculum to the personal and professional growth of the student.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
• understand the Mechanical Engineering curriculum at MSOE
• understand the role of Mechanical Engineering as related to contemporary issues
• recognize potential societal and environment impacts of an engineering project
• recognize the importance of professional and personal ethics
• understand the role of professional societies
