BUS 1850 - Information and Operations Technology3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course introduces students to the convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT) in today’s data-driven and digitally automated environments. Designed for future-ready professionals, the course explores how emerging technologies are transforming business operations, manufacturing, and decision-making. Students will experience hands-on Technology such as additive manufacturing, introduction to, generative AI, agent AI, and machine learning. This course will also expose students to ethics and cybersecurity in a digital world. - Explain the role and integration of Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT) in modern business and industrial environments.
- Apply data analysis and automation techniques to solve business problems and streamline operations.
- Demonstrate the use of additive manufacturing technologies by producing basic prototypes and explaining their applications in manufacturing and product development.
- Design and interpret interactive dashboards used to support data-driven decision-making.
- Discuss the ethical and practical considerations involved in deploying digital technologies in business, including issues of data privacy, security, and automation impacts.
- Utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to analyze data, identify patterns, and improve operational efficiency in business contexts.
- Describe foundational machine learning concepts.
