BUS 3580 - Intermediate Accounting I2 lecture hours 2 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course is designed to provide students with an in-depth exposure to the conceptual framework of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) and International Financial Reporting Standards for the preparation and understanding of financial information. Students will focus on the measurement, recognition, and presentation of transactions, with emphasis on the basic financial statements, revenue recognition, and a range of other contemporary topics in financial reporting. Prereq: BUS 3560 , BUS 2530 (quarter system prereq: BA 2530, BA 2550) Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Construct and analyze financial statements for a complex organization focusing on the Income Statement, and Statement of Cash flows
- Describe, prepare, and analyze complex accounting transactions in accordance with U.S GAAP for revenue, expenses, liabilities, income taxes, gains and losses
- Assess the financial reporting environment and theory
- Understand ethical considerations for preparing and reporting financial information
