BUS 4820 - Enterprise Resource Planning3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course introduces students to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and their critical role in business process integration and operations systems management (OSM). Through hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA, students will explore the foundational structure of ERP systems, analyze real-world business cases, and simulate operations in a virtual marketplace of suppliers, customers, and service providers. Students will also be trained in ethical AI usage, guided prompting techniques, and verification habits to ensure responsible and effective learning. Prereq: None Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the fundamental importance of ERP systems in the integration of business processes
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the context of ERP systems and business processes
- Create/modify master data
- Employ ERP software to perform basic production planning and control tasks related to supplier management, operational control, marketing, and distribution processes
- Discuss the importance of data transparency and data sharing to improve supply chain performance for all parties
- Learn fundamental concepts and techniques of data management utilizing ERP systems for business intelligence purposes
- Explain how artificial intelligence can enhance ERP processes by analyzing data patterns, automating routine tasks, and supporting decision-making across multiple functional areas.
- Assess the ethical implications of integrating artificial intelligence into ERP systems, including issues of data privacy, bias, transparency, and responsible automation
