RSC 3010 - Third-Year Seminar I1 lecture hours 0 lab hours 1 credits Course Description This fall seminar is designed to support the retention and success of third-year MSOE students and students of junior standing through culturally centered learning experiences and activities that foster inclusion and belonging at MSOE. The instructional framework is based on the Council for the Advancement of Standards of Higher Education’s Learning and Development Domains and Outcomes (2020), specific to humanitarianism and civic engagement, with an emphasis on multicultural competence. Prereq: Coordinator consent Note: This seminar is only offered in fall. This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand one’s own identity and culture
- Seek involvement with people different from oneself
- Identify systematic barriers to equality and inclusiveness, then advocate and justify means for dismantling them
- In interactions with others, exhibit respect, and preserve the dignity of others
- Act in congruence with personal values and beliefs; exemplifies dependability, honesty, and trustworthiness; accepts personal accountability
