RSC 1010 - First-Year Seminar I1 lecture hours 0 lab hours 1 credits Course Description This fall seminar is designed to support the retention and success of first-year MSOE students and transfers through culturally centered learning experiences and activities that enhance academic and social integration to MSOE. The instructional framework is based on the Council for the Advancement of Standards of Higher Education’s Learning and Development Domains and Outcomes (2020), specifically, cognitive complexity, interpersonal and intrapersonal competence, and practical competence, with an emphasis on academic self-efficacy and resilience. Prereq: Coordinator consent Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply previously understood information, concepts, and experiences to a new situation or setting, rethink previous assumptions
- Use complex information from a variety of sources, including personal experience and observation, to form a decision or opinion
- Integrate mental, emotional, and creative processes for increased insight
- Establish healthy, mutually beneficial relationships with others; treat others with respect
- Manage interpersonal conflicts effectively; and demonstrate appropriately assertive behavior
- Accept supervision and direction as needed
