UXD 4040 - UX in Transportation3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description This course will apply UX design to various modes of transportation such as aviation, automobile, powersports (including motorcycles), bicycles, and trains. This course will deep dive into the design of both the display and input controls while performing other tasks. Course will review regulatory requirements to ensure safety. Students will experience activities on developing these complex systems, how to evaluate and provide recommendations as well as validate designs to regulatory requirements. Prereq: COM 2001 , UXD 1001 , junior standing (quarter system prereq: UX 1400 or UX 1400H and GS 1002 or GS 1020H or GS 1002E) Note: None This course meets the following Raider Core CLO Requirement: None Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply regulations, standards, and guidance in design of displays and controls for transportation products
- Create prototype displays and input controls
- Test displays for usability and validate to regulations, standards, and guidance
- Synthesize data and propose recommendations
- Explain government and industry regulations, standards, and guidance
