CVE 6031 - Municipal Permitting of Development3 lecture hours 0 lab hours 3 credits Course Description Municipal permitting of development encompasses a comprehensive review of planning and zoning, building codes, and the role of local government. Roles of a plan commission, architectural review board, and community development authority will be discussed. (prereq: graduate standing) (quarter system prereq: none) Course Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Discuss the history of planning and zoning and the role of local government
- Explain the purpose, structure, and function of a Plan Commission, Architectural Review Board and Community Development Authority
- Evaluate project development plans and identify potential concerns
- Design a model community and produce a map, a master plan, and a simple zoning ordinance for the community
